Trebuchet

The traction trebuchet worked in the same way except that a weight would not pull the shorter arm down to provide the force necessary to launch the 'ammunition', but instead had a team of men to pull on ropes so as to force the shorter end of the lever-arm down.

The trebuchet was so large that it had to be constructed at the proposed site of use. The trebuchet also had to be very strong so as to deal with the amount of force put on it, while the lever also had to be as light as possible so as to maximize its speed and power.
